Flow Yoga

Flow Yoga with Jennifer Lynn is challenging and rewarding, precise and playful. Careful attention is paid to the optimal alignment of the joints and balanced rooting and reaching eneries.  Movement is aligned with the natural loops and spirals of energy that move through our bodies and initiated from the core.  With this style of yoga we harmonize intelligence, intention, and action creating a graceful physical expression of our divine nature: to move through the world creating health, beauty, and connection. We practice to understand the body more deeply and to strengthen and purify the body so the grace that swirls through us can express itself more freely around us. Recognizing our longing to heal suffering and expand the boundaries of love and joy, we use the action and alignment of our poses to express heart qualities such as kindness, gratitude, respect, unity, honesty, creativity, peace and playfulness.  Come sweat with us as we reach for greater potential.

 

Hip Openers

Did you know that most low back pain and Knee injuries stem from tight hips?  When the hips are locked, the low back is forced to bend out of alignment and the knees take torque because the hips cannot rotate freely. This causes joints to wear unevenly eventually nicking the inner joint surfaces and causing swelling that impinges nerves and causes pain. You can avoid this mess by keeping your hips open.  This class stretches the muscles groups that control the movement of your pelvis: hamstrings, psoas, quads, external rotators, abductors and adductors.  Come and moan with us as we breathe deeply and release tension in our hips!

 

Yoga Basics

Just getting started in with your yoga practice? Learn the basics of yoga movement and breath in this gentle class.  We will go over basic postures, their purpose and the alignment adjustments that make them work for you.  You will be given ‘homework’ to keep your practice developing in between our weekly meetings. If you are an aspiring yoga teacher, this class would be helpful in deepening your understanding of anatomy and therapeutics.  Class begins with a gentle warm-up and proceeds into basic standing postures that support lengthening and realigning the spine.  Class ends with hip openers, gentle back bends and soothing spinal twists.

 

Yoga Alignments

This class focuses heavily on the alignment actions that help us self-adjust in the postures.  You will learn the language of the Anusara alignment principles, the loops that adjust the central axis of the body and the spirals that root the arms and legs while extending energy through them.  This class will teach you body awareness that you can take into your workplace and home and learn to move in new ways that keep your joints healthy and your energy flowing.  This class is for all levels.

 

Yoga for Stiff Guys

In this playful class we invite stiff guys to come and stretch out their stiffness.  No spandex required.  Just come in loose comfy clothes and get ready to moan and breathe deeply.  Even stiff guys know that using certain muscles over and over while other muscles grow weak causes bones to get pulled out of alignment.  Bones that are out of alignment cause joint pain and swelling that can lead to nerve pressure that hurts like heck!  No one wants that.  Yet, stiff guys don’t like the idea of keeping up with a bunch of bendable yogis.  So, we offer a class just for you stiff guys.  Get into a routine of stretching out the strong muscles and waking up the weak ones.  Get back to balance and enjoy pain-free living.  You will be in the company of other stiff guys so don’t worry about having to keep up with spandex-clad yogis!
